The standard "Post Reply" button at the bottom of the quick reply form often fails to work when using the Firefox browser.  Even refreshing the screen does not activate the button.  Seems the code behind it is doing something strange or a script is failing to run.

Also the Aimoo help forum is completely un-navigable with some menus coming up black on black.  Please, if you want to try out new skins do them on your own forums NOT on the help forum.  People are already fustrated, that's why they are coming to the Help forum.  Don't piss them of further by having a totally un-navigable skin.

I had to email one of the people I know who is a moderator of the category to ask them where to find the "Start new Topic" button.  When an experienced user, (6 years with Aimoo), who uses the system every day and runs one of your largest forums, (more than 11,000 registered users), has to ask where to find the buttons you know you have succeeded in your goal of total confusion.  I guess that's one way to
cut down on the complaints.

Change this help board back to the old skin so we can read it and find our way around with ease!  Or at least to a skin where items are NOT black on black.

You folks have got to learn not to play with everything at once.  Stop efing with the live code, to do your testing on a test system, not the live user message boards.

Don't mess up the Help forum where people come to ask questions when they have problems. Leave the skin alone. The Halloween skin is not cute. It is stupid, because it makes it more difficult for users to solve their problems or report bugs.

If this is so Administrator...please tell me why it works in Classic?  You will not get the many groups that joined from MSN to join in Trendy just because of this "whatever" Nor will you get their diamond dollars.

You for sure better not let Classic go down the tubes over Trendy.  Microsoft is one of the leading browsers, there is no reason under the sun why it should not work in any forum.

Not to worry, I'm done in here....I do believe you should have a help group also in Classic, many find this hard to deal with.

One more thing....Administrator

look at the source code of a butchered post and you will plainly see that the script is converting \n to <br>

That is caused by a missing filter in the WYSIWYG editor or a rogue line of code in the server side software that is trying to emulate a plain text editor

Karrier,  Sorry for my error in accusing you of deleting messages. I was wrong you were not deleting posts.
I was, as you guessed, just
confused because this version of the software repeats the first post at
the top of every page.
I saw the first post, and the last posts, and did not see the posts in the middle and thought they were deleted.  They were just on another page.

Being accustomed to working with a large forum with the page length set
to 50 posts per page it did not occur to me that the missing posts were
on a prior page. With this new software it was not obvious to me that I was working on a
subsequent page.  The repeating first message caused probably caused the delusion.

My apologies again.  You were innocent.  JM

JM_Runs,

Since I first joined Aimoo over 12 months ago (different ID to this), the first post has always repeated on every page.  It is not new with the Trendy version.

However, it is good of you to apologise to Karrier.  Even though I know the first post is repeated, I have sometimes NOT noticed that there is a new page, meaning I am unaware of any new replies.  We all make mistakes I'm sure.

I think Trixie has a really good point, you cant expect people to be using 4 different browsers.  JM I complained about the hard to read skin when it was still on classic, that was bad enough but to do it on a new format that the majority of users coming in looking for help is just crazy lol.

I had a look at Omatron yesterday and tbh I dont like it (no offense Karrier I mean the layout lol) but at least with the lighter skin you have a cat in hells chance of rwading it.

My monitor is a 15" cheapy one that my nieces hubby got from his workplace when they upgraded lol.

JM & Bones, we know all you suggested is good for our Aimoo,  but we are sad to see your foul upon each other. Please stop.

JM, this time, the revision is totally different form the 2007's,the meltdown of 2007 will not happen, and the classic version will be there also, you may switch between the two versions. As for the width, we choose px mode, cos due to the resolution and size of the monitor, the % will be displayed differently, for example, if you choose 100%, and the monitor 800*600, the screen display is normal, but if the monitor is 1280*960, the screen display will be stretched. However, the px mode will not be influenced by the monitor. Thanks for your understanding.

Admin and Mods...

I simply reported that other than the forum width issue I have with my monitor's resolution, everything appears fine to me in the Trendy version of this help forum.  I can see the various shades of gray text being used, that all links and buttons were appearing just fine for me with my IE8 browser and that I wasn't having any forum navigation problems at this time.

I also offered my personal opinion that I like the Halloween skin with the current background and text colors as I find that easier on my eyes.  I have no problem with the fact that others have personal preferences different from my own.

None of this was directed at any individual in particular, nor did it warrant the kind of response I received from JM.

I will back away from commenting further on Trendy in this help forum as my intention was never to start a pissing match with anyone over anything being discussed here.  You certainly don't need any input from me and I don't have to sit here and take unwarranted personal attacks and/or admonishments from anyone, so I'll simply leave it to the forum experts to work things out.

No hard feelings from me... and I wish you good luck with it.

Admininstrator, the code of the editor can be edited also!! As I stated in message #52
There should be no reason a person has to run different browsers in order to post things properly.
A forum should be set up to run the standard browsers.
It's your site, you can do it your way.  As I said, if you are keeping Classic, you should at least keep a help group going in that format for those who plan to only use Classic.  If your members are happy, doesn't that make you happy?

I don't know what skin you are using but on the classic skin we use the first post is not repeated on subsequent pages of my forum.

The fact that first posts are stored in the record header for the Thread and not in the same table as the rest of the replies is a basic falure of SQL data normalization that has plagued this version of the software since 2007.

That's one of the reasons that merging threads causes one of the first posts from one of the two threads to be lost forever.

I have been switching between Trendy and Classic in one of my Forums, driving my members nuts, LOL. I have my settings so that the first message is repeated on each page in both formats.

I believe you about losing the first message of one of the threads when merging because it happened to me, but I don't understand the technology behind it as you do.  When I do need to merge a thread, which is not very often, I create a new thread, then move all the replies to it from the two original threads. Looks strange because the date on the opening post is later than the replies.  However, it's a workaround and not many, if any, people notice.
