First, I love goofing around with this new trendy version, I must say, it looks good.
But I don't get this CSS-thingy-me-jig. Do I understand it correctly that if I were to download a free css-template I could use that in the css and adapt that to my liking? Or can I just adapt certain parts of your default template? I tried that but it didn't seem to take the way I wanted....lol Maybe I got the code wrong.
When my forum changed from classic to trendy all those tables became distorted. The padding is of. In the width they're fine but in the height they are,.....well,....a tad of centre....lol
Thing is, if I post a new message with the html-code in the html mode, the the table appears just fine. But as soon as I try to edit it goes of again, wandering down south as it were and the whole cell-padding is extracted downwards. I do hope I'm making any sense here....lol
It also doesn't take all of the customized forum icons I've uploaded, like the reply button I uploaded isn't showing yet.
I would really, really like to know if I can add a css-template, say,....one of those free-downloadable ones from the world-wide-web.
The strange thing is, when I post a table like this in html as a new post, it works fine. As soon as I want to edit it it shows like this. Also the "old" posts from the classic version come up like this.
And the reply icon is no longer present in my control panel so I can't upload my own icon.
Pommerlis, the tables are messed up in the editor period. Even if you use the table editor that Aimoo has to make a background it does the same thing if you edit it when set at 100%. I am at the point of thinking it has to do with the total setting of the Trendy fourms.
They are not set at 100%. And can not be set that way either. You can not slide the Windows, there are only three size settings for the forums. This is not good, since if you have a low resolution and it is set at a high resolution you have nothing but scrolling.
Trendy will not work for graphic groups, except to load pictures into the message boards. Websets, games will not work properly!!
Even our avatars are tiny now. All icons will have to made really tiny also, in order to work right and look right.
Status: might be here, might not be, who can tell, lol
I think I said something similar yesterday Trixie,
the size settings are quite different in the new style, as the forum width can only be set by px, not by %, so copying and pasting of larger images, websets etc from classic to new style is not likely to work well unfortunately.
Unless Admin can make some changes in this area, the new style may not be a good option for forums focusing on websets etc.

You did Dev..but it still leaves the fact that the first post in a disscussion area shows the Tables properly, so it is not the tables. It is something else other then just what happens to any tables that are edited, after the fact in the first post....and also any tables added through reply in that disscussion area are all out of wack from that point on, from the first posting.
I know it is fixable, and could be fixed in the settings in the editor somewhere, so that would not happen in the posts. Just as they didn't happen in the posts in Classic, even if the settings of the forum were in PX rather then %.
It all has to do with the coding in this Trendy forum. Other forums using this simular set up, do not do this to Tables!!
Also, it doesn't matter where you copy and paste Websets or HTML from, it still does the same..as I said it is the coding that is messed up for all graphic users in Trendy.

I agree with you on that one Trixie. It has nothing to with the tables, they show no differences in their html coding, nothing has changed to them.
But I kinda like the Trendy look though. It so much easier to navigate, so many more shortcuts and forum-jumps. So I will give it everything I've got before I say I can't use it for my graphics forum. I don't give up that easily....lol
About the CSS, I've created a new forum called the Lab and I'm going to experiment with outside CSS templates. There are a gazillion templates out there in CSS for website and all free for download and I would like to know whether I could use those in the CSS editor. So I created a seperate forum for that.
If you hear a big kaboom and see me running past with smoking hair, it went wrong.....lol Otherwise, I keep you guys posted how it goes.
Hello Pommerlis just taken a look at your site .and i see you have your banner in place of the image that aimoo had on .i just cannot find the link . to clear it . to add my own . how on earth did you manage that .. maybe someone can explain it simple . in plain english Ron

Hi Ron,
the default header is actually a background image. To remove it, of change it to a different tile, go to the edit skin section, background tab and look for background header. If you just want it gone, remove the URL that's in the bo and replace it with just http:// then it'll vanish and the main page background will show through.
You can also add some extra content to this are, this sits on top of the back ground image, if you want. That's done in the Forum Info section though, not in the edit skin section.
I first made an image, 1000 px wide since that is the default-width of the forum and I don't want the image to be repeated. The image is about 200px in height but I belive the standaard is 189 or something.
I then uploaded the image, a jpeg, to my photo-bucket account. Then I went to mmy control-panel and to Edit Skin - Backgroun. I choose the Image Option, clicked upload and copied the URL (http......) of the image on my photobucket account, into the Image URL and clicked Insert. In the Preview you can see it being changed. I then clicked Save Changes and voíla....
So having Dev and Karrier test sets at Karriers site. They could load the websets right and copy and paste with Safari or Crome browsers, IE and Fire Fox will not work, Fire Fox being worse yet for loading, it will only load the text period.
No matter what I'm told, since they do work in Classic, I know that Admin has not got the proper information in the codes to take care of this problem for all of us.
I'll not have four browsers on my computer just to beable to post at a certain forum. Never had too..before!!
I see you are still asking that CSS question too.....it doesn't seem to except CSS in that area at all...but then maybe it is our browsers?????

you don't need to add anything Cynthia,
The "join" button appears in the top tool bar in all forums if you're not already a member there. In your own forum of course you wont see it as you're already part of the forum, but anyone who's not yet a member does.
Chrome is the best browser around by far, I test pages with 7 different browsers and chrome comes out tops everytime, you will end up dropping IE I reckon as you get uesd to the smooth way it works.
I am very keen on Firefox, because of it's very productive extensions. I can have extensions to help me, for example extracting the correct legal citations from Westlaw, or provide dictionary lookup, copy to plain text, etc. I can have extensions that protect me, that prevent scripts from running unless they are from sights I like, (NoScript) or add blockers. I can have extensions that even allow me to switch between rendering engins so sites that don't work in Firefox, like Microsoft update, can run using IE Tab or IE View from within Firefox. One click switches rendering engines. Very cool.
There are some very useful and powerful extensions available that extend it's functionality in just about any way you can imagine. Some of them I have come to depend on and could be without.
It's open security architecture is also good. Any flaws get fixed fast, because there are a lot of eyeballs taking a hard look at what is happening under the hood.
I have used all sorts of browsers and am sticking with Firefox because of it's stability, extendability and security.
Any software that is going to be competitive on the web now must support and display correctly in the current major browsers, IE and Firefox.
IE has more than 60% of the market just because it comes pre-installed on almost every PC. Firefox has around a 25% market share that it has earned the honest way, by being a better browser. Chrome is doing a good job but is still only a tiny little slice of the market, around 2% to 3% and Safari only exists because it is bundled with Macs and pushed out to the unsuspecting though Apple Itunes downloads.
