Hi, The board is loading awfully slow, sometimes it takes 20 to 30 seconds (with my 4mbps cabel connection) for one page to load. Now I know it is an "off and on" thing, at some points it is faster, but all in all, I think the loading speed is an issue, and it should be improved, it is awful to wait long when you want to read/post. Is this only a temporary issue, and will this be solved? szilvia

Now this right here really irks me. Why am I not even surprised though to see that this topic was not bumped even once? Slow loading times are the one thing that AIMOO users are complaining about the most, and the problem is not being addressed. You are in danger of losing an entire community to this stupid glitch, which in the past week alone has gotten much worse (now each post loads separately!!). If you value profit, you will see that this problem is taken care of and not ignored like it seems to be at the moment. Thanks and have a nice day.

PS: Yes, I'm serious. The community I post at which has over 15 regularly-posting members is in the process of deciding whether or not to move back to ezboard.com (not to mention Truthful Lies, a community that came to AIMOO just before we did is thinking of leaving too and they have even MORE members). This is 90% because of loading times for each forum and post. Is it going to be dealt with or do we leave? It's no skin off our backs, we just hope you comply because we don't really want to be forced to leave because of technical problems.

As the owner of the board that Locke 314 is referring, I thought I would go ahead and state my opinion.
I move to Aimoo from ezboard because of all the various this board has to offer. Yet, I am now being told that one of thse features, using images, is what is slowing the boards down. What the heck is the point of offering such great features, things that enticed us to leave Ezboard, if those same features are going to cause so many problems? I have visited at least 10 different Aimoo boards to make sure it wasn't just my board, and it's not. As one other poster said, it does seem to come and go but it definitely has been more frequent lately...basically it seems since the maintenance was performed.
One of your board has already re-opened her Ezboard and as muh as I hate to say this, I may be doing the same if these problems can't be rectified. Ezboard has it's issues but I can tell you right now I very raely had this slow loading problem with my ezboard. On my Aimoo board it has become a daily battle.

I hope that you take these omplaints under serious advisement, otherwise it seems to me you may be losing a heck of alot of good boards, therefore losing money as well.

"The more stuff you put on it..the slower it gets. " one of my customers suggested us to get rid of those features. We do understand the pain of Slow loading , but we have to say the slow loading is not caused by aimoo frames, is was caused by the images and icons in your pages, the average size of each page including images and icons is approximately 500K (0.5M) while other board's is about 170k. so ours load may 3 times slower than others.

We will release a new function that the administrators have the ability to shut all images down to make sure the members get the fast loading.

Please kindly try the text-version of your message board at here(http://www.aimoo.com/aimootest/test.htm) , is it fast enough?

well i opened this thread in february, and back then i was very dissapointed because just to post a reply took forever. But now I think it got way better. I use my own icons and they are all way below 1K each and I don't allow huge avatars like some boards.
In my forum we enjoy posting images and my members love that and are willing to wait for the loading, but I always check the image sizes and ask my members to keep each image under 15K. And I must say even with the many images in my forum i can definitely say, that the forum speed is much better than before, i might add that i have a cable connection, but so far no member ever complained to me, and they are aware that if you wanna post many pics you have to pay the price

I checked out your forum, i think it loaded ok.

Admin, I have a question, do members slow down the forum? I mean does it get slower when many people are logged on?

It's extremely fast for me. ..too. lol... I use DSL dial up.

500k/page is too much, should shrink the image size , 56k modem dial up speed normally is 3-5k/s, so 500k should take you 100s to finish loading...

whatever, who use 56k dial up today? ...lol...

Does not effect the performance. Aimoo server has the enough bandwidth (100M)after the latest upgrading . But if the images in your page link to other site, we do not guarantee the loading speed.

Agreed, lots of images do slow things down, but you can't expect people not to have any at all.

Sure that text link was faster, but no images at all would make a board really boring.

This board for instance, always loads very slowly for me, always has done (and my own board too). And yes, I have 56K - not everyone has the latest technology, so we have to bear that in mind.

And on the odd occasion when a troll has been spamming a board, all boards slow down to the point where they are completely inaccessible and we get error messages asking us to report to you. I can recall at least two such occasions, one of which lasted several hours.

With more boards joining Aimoo all the time, what are you people doing to accommodate the extra bandwidth required?

What Bridge said is exactly what I am talking about...of course text loads quicker but I don't want just a plain ol' message board. I really don't think I use that many images anyway and they are all uploaded from my Aimoo image hosting. And there is the fact that I don't see it in just my board....I have seen it in at least 10 other boards. Yes, I have 56k but I have talked to other people who hve cable and DSL who are complaining about the slow loading as well so I know it's not just me.

This is one of several problems I have had lately...including not having the icon editing feature for 5 days, getting error messages similiar to what Bridge said...but this is the most annoying. I don't expect this to be all fine and dandy over night, I guess I just expect a reasonable answer.

Yes, as I explained above, the image is the only reason why the loading speed is slower than other boards. Aimoo is an Icon-built-in-Board, so at technology point, it is impossible to make it load faster than a text-board.

Please kindly compare the loading speed of the follow two pages:

ezboard: (Text board) (size:100k)
http://pub47.ezboard.com/finnerfuzion2frm1
http://pub47.ezboard.com/finnerfuzion2frm1.showMessage?topicID=1033.topic

Aimoo board: ( Icon board ) (size:200-500K)
http://www.aimoo.com/forum/postview.cfm?id=307913&CategoryID=9&ThreadID=136162

If you perfer the text board with light icons for loading faster purpose, we can develope this light-icon-board special for you.

Any more comments on this? we have be tring our best to make the aimoo stable and loading faster.

Did you experience any problems while loding this "Aimoo help forum" board?
(which is on the same server as yours)

You can compare the bandwidth of aimoo server and other board's server with the following web tools:
http://visualroute.visualware.com/

(just fill www.aimoo.com or www.otherboard.com and press "Enter" key)

We always make aimoo servers have enough bandwidth .
