We are having the same problem on our forum.  "Close me" has invaded despite the fact that I have anti-virus and a pop-up blocker on both of my computers.

thanks for the input,

i think that Aimoo has been hacked and placed onit some kind of virus, i do not think it is an advert in anyway, Aimoo must know this by now.

You have the ADs blocker tools installed on your computer side which disable/hide the ads banners. only the "close me" button left.

No hacked, it's a new floating ADs for the free aimoo account. Disable your anti popup /ads blocker tool, you will see the ADs banner there.

the ads are ridiculous on aimoo. its way out of control and there are probably much better free services out there. i dont mind even just one pop-up every page, but you guys have like two or three a page, then that stupid close me thing. to keep members you should cut back a little on the rampid ads.

the new floating ad things are flawed

i go to post a reply and the ad is stuck on the bottom left corner covering the reply button so I can't even post nor can i see half the stuff i'm writing in the reply box..... very annoying

i think these ads should be pulled until they dont' affect the performance of the forum

i cant even post because of this shiiite.... what is the use of a forum if i can't even post

and who the hell wants to buy a fuking rug on the internet anyways

i agree with you all,

we are considering to pull the plug on Aimoo, the adverts are getting worse and my members are starting to dwindle,

if they don't stop them! we will stop!

if everyone stood together then they would have no community.

Try viewing in Interent Explorer. When I do so, I see the moving advertisement. However, when I view my forum in Mozilla (Firefox actually), it only shows a rectangle with the "Close Me" text, and effectively disables most of the page (links cannot be clicked, drop down boxes do not work, etc). I have no problem with the advertisements as long as they work. This one seriously hinders the forum use and doesn't even show its ad! I do realize I have the built-in pop-up blocker turned on, however, evading my pop-up blocker tool is better than the current situation of rendering the forum difficult if not impossible for non-expert users to use. Please look into this problem, aimoo.

This is not any work of hackers, I realize this, but it is a serious advertising oversight.

----UPDATE:
Even with my built-in pop-up blocker turned off in FireFox, I get the same results.

one of the rules of Aimoo is that you are not allowed to use a pop up blocker. It is a simple exchange, they give you a free messageboard, in exchange they put aderts on it. If you were allowed to use a pop up blocker now that wouldn't be fair at all, right?
so forcing you to turn off your pop up blocker is actually a good business move on aimoo's part, I think.

and if you truly don't like it you have two choices, 1. go elsewhere (I mean since you are not paying it is really no skin off aimoo's back, right?) or 2. pay up and get a diamond community like everyone else who wanted to remove adverts. the diamond community is cheap, easy to use and effectively removes all adverts and most problems associated with the free boards.
