I am not quite sure what they were thinking when they disabled the html in this place.  This is a help group.  Not having the html enabled is just plain ridiculous.  Are the mods so arrogant that they feel nobody but a mod knows how to use html and only they should assist people asking questions?  If the rationale was to speed the strings up, it obviously backfired.  Screenshots of solutions that could be more compactly demonstrated using html have many threads slower than a stoned garbage slug and stretched 2 screens wide.

I would also like to see the <textarea> tag enabled to make it easier to share html code.

The html has been disabled to stop spam posts.
Us mods have no say over what functions aimoo users have on the help forums, get your facts right before you go and have a go at us.

You don't have to come here if you feel we are arrogant now do you?

Maybe you should think before you post or set up your own help forum where you can do what you wish.

Karrier is right. The Moderators don't make the rules here. We are volunteers who help when and where we can.

We don't lay claim that only Moderators can answer questions.  See
this thread for instance which relates to your tables and grids.

If you wish to help someone with a particular problem which requires HTML, you can use HTML in a PM.

I am disappointed with you Blaze. I thought you were more polite.

A misread on your part does not constitute an accusation or rudeness on mine.  No where in my initial post did I state that mods were arrogant or that I thought so.  Reread my initial post and note that there is a question mark after the sentence in question.  Perhaps it is you who should look before he leaps.

Please explain to me how disabling the HTML prevents spam.  Spambots use text and BBC as well as html.  None go through the editor.  I will spare you the "geek speak" on the mechanics of how most of those programs work, but disabling the html will not slow them down.  Even if it could be demonstrated that crippling the funtionality of the group as a help group by disabling the html slows them down, is it worth it?

Babs, I thanked you on the string you referred me to and will thank you here for allowing Trixie to help out, but you must admit it would have been a lot easier for her to just post the tables requested as opposed to having to make screenshots of them, which slow down the thread and confuse those requesting.  Perhaps a happy compromise might be to have a designated area for sharing and getting help with websets, tables, skins, graphics etc.

Yes it is quite simple.

We dont get 1000's of wow gold / XXX / nike posts anymore.

If you had been here over the last few years you would have seen it all, just like on this forum here http://travelcafe.aimoo.com/TodayTopics.html

Are the mods so arrogant that they feel nobody but a mod knows how to use html and only they should assist people asking questions?

Just because you put a question mark doesn't excuse the fact you posted it, it quite clearly says what you think.

I look before I leap, that is why I have managed to stay on aimoo since 2003.

I do agree an area to share html / websets etc is a good idea but then the today page will be full of tutions, I thought that is what forums like chat central was about, why bring it all here? As a mod I use the today page to see what needs looking at.

I have to say that I read that the same way the other moderators did.

Yes Blaze, you did thank me five minutes before you wrote that. I appreciate it but Moderators make suggestions and requests.  It's Admin you need to thank for following through and allowing Members to post tips and ask questions of the one who posted the tip.

The initial messages were moved to the Tips Board because they were intruding in a thread on the Suggestions & Feedback Forum about Aimoo Tables.

I agree it would have been easier to post the tables but as Karrier mentioned, you have your own Website.  Why not direct people there in your responses to save you the trouble of duplicating things in Aimoo?  Alternatively, as I said earlier, you can use HTML in a PM to a member.

I had this broke into paragraphs and it ran together when I posted, sorry about the edit

I will give you this, I admit the implication was there, but I was irritated at the time.  I had just checked on my thread about the dangers of the redirected and encrypted links only to find it had been ignored even after Angel was nice enough to give it a bump.  I was and still am really disgusted.  They cry about spammers and then do them a favor by encrypting their links for them at serious risk to us and our children.  I apologize for my misdirected frustration.  I realize that the mods have little do do with such rot.

RE: The html bit... I still don't see how it stops the spambots.  The example you showed me is also using the bb code, but I will take your word for it.  I can appreciate not wanting to have the today page all blown to crap.  Apparently it is the only way to view all boards at once in Aimoo.  The counterpart to that in CCG only displays the subjects of all bumped threads.  Not as convenient as the Aimoo today page, but it does get us around the problem.  I designed CCG with bulk graphics and page testing in mind.  Since you don't mind us referring people there or to a sister Aimoo group to pick up stuff or see stuff demonstrated, perhaps you are right and the bulky stuff can just stay there where it creates no problems.

I am not a programmer or anything, just got me websites and forum but will say that since the html was disabled here, the spam posts have gone down by 99.9%, so It seems to work ok.

Links to other forums and sites are not a problem, anything that is helping people is great, I have ad's to my ebay store and t shirt empire (LOL) as my sig.
