EDITING THE SKIN

1.  The Skin you have chosen is shown against "Tips" and also
has a check mark in the Status column against its name.

2. Click on "Edit My Skin" in the left hand menu.

    07EditmySkin.jpg picture by Aimoo_

3.  You will note there are two tabs at the top ~
"Forum & Category Page" and "Thread Page".

Let's start with the Forum & Category Page

09ForumCategoryPage.jpg picture by Aimoo_

On the Forums & Category page, the examples on the left indicate each section in turn, so you know which ones to edit.

You can see in the squares on the right, that the colours in this example are white for the background and pink for the border.  If you wish to change these, click inside the square and click on a different colour from the chart which appears.

If you want to use a custom colour (one that is not shown on the chart), you need to know the HTML Code.  If you are matching the colour of something you already have, you can read the code in your paint program, such as Paintshop Pro, Paint Shop Deluxe, Photoshop, Corel Draw, etc.  Make a note of it and type it in the box, or you may be able to copy and paste it, as in Paintshop Pro.

In the second box, if you wish to change the background image, click on "Upload" and your Aimoo images will appear so click on Select on the right of the image you want.  Alternatively, you can select HTTP at the top of the page and type in the URL; or click on FTP then Browse and locate an image from your computer. Click on Upload, then when it has uploaded, click on
Select on the right.

Click on Preview to see what it looks like.  Click BACK to return to this option and just experiment until you get what you want.  Change the other options as you wish (I changed mine to repeat).  When you are happy with the background, scroll to the bottom and click on "Submit".

As you scroll down, you can see that you can change each section at a time.

Look at the examples shown on the left which indicate which part you are changing. For instance, the screenshot below indicates the colour of the Sub Category title.

This one shows the description or explanation of the Sub Category if you use this.

The existing colours in the boxes on the right also give you an indication of what you are changing.  If for instance, you want to change all instances of pink to blue, you may want to do those first.

You can click on Preview at the bottom of the page to see how things have changed and when you are happy with the latest edits, click on Submit, then move on to the next section.  I wouldn't try changing everything at once if you are new to this.  As you become more familiar with it, you will probably know what you are doing and can make several changes all at once.

Keep the Skins in your Collection even you switch to another one.  If you want to use any again, they will have retained your settings and you won't need to do all this again. Remember you can only store up to ten Skins, so be particular about which ones you wish to keep in your Collection, particularly if you change them often.

Let's take a look at the next tab "Thread Page".

11ThreadPage.jpg picture by Aimoo_

Again the examples on the left indicate which section of the Skin they relate to.

You can change the font, as well as the colour and size of the font.

As a signature tag maker, I know many taggers prefer to have a white background in their messages.  This is where you would change it.  Go down to the third section "Topic Style".

12TopicPage.jpg picture by Aimoo_

Ensure the top box is empty.  If there is something in the first box "Background Image", delete it.

Change the second box "Background Color" to #FFFFFF which is white, or select white from the colour chart after clicking inside the square.

The next four boxes in the upper section relate to the text in the left hand column of a message thread.  This pertains to the Member who has posted the message and appears below their Avatar.

The lower part of this section (the last five boxes) relates to the font within the message; and the very last box "Topic Content Font Color" is the font colour, so if you change yours as shown above, you will have blue text on a white background in your opening message.

NOTE:

Many people miss the next part.  The above relates to the opening message but we also need to change the details for Replies.

Scroll down a bit (two sections down) to "
Reply Content Style" and make the required changes there for the font details.

Chances are I will have overlooked something.

You won't be able to reply in this thread. If you have any questions, please post a message on the "Help for Aimoo Admins" Board
here.  If necessary, I will update the Tutorial.
