Is there a way to have some of the categories display collapsed when a user first goes to your forum (see image) ?  For example, maybe you want the first category open, and the others collapsed.

As posted previously, cannot upload images to the SUPPORT forum still.  Is the SUPPORT forum not a diamond community or something ?

We are sorry that we cannot add the feature because that will mess up all the sub-categories in a forum.

Thank you for your cooperation.

How about a preference which collapses everything on the main page.

The issue is that if the top category has many sub-categories, that is the only thing displayed until you scoll down.  I like users to be able to see all the categories when they go to the main page, and then expand what interests them.

We suggest you make one sub-category in one category. Thus all sub-catgegories could be displayed on the main page.

Hi AIMOO.  You are missing the point.  Your suggestion will not solve the issue, as it still will be necessary to scroll to view all the categories.  If you have 6 categories with 4 sub-categories each, or 24 categories with 1 sub-category each, that makes no difference.

A forum should have the ability to have all the categories collapsed, and let the user expand them.  That is the typical process, actually.

Is there another solution you have ?  When a forum has a lot of sub-categories, regardless of how many categories there are, having them all displayed makes it VERY HARD to quickly find threads.

Perhaps you can have 2 types of MAIN PAGES, with an admin preference.  The first is the current type.

The second type could completely remove the ability to collapse-expand categories.  Thus, only the categories are displayed on the main page.  When you click a category, then it takes you inside to the sub-categories list.

MODERATORS
Do any of you moderators understand the need when a form has a lot of sub-categories ?  Can any of you think of a solution ?
