UPDATE:  Aimoo has just released an email on January 6th to all board admins supporting this method of controling your boards domain name.  This is the URL that users use to access your board and the link that should be in your weblinks, bookmarks and short cuts.

OLD POST FOLLOWS
______________________________________________________________________________

I am not an Aimoo admin but just a board owner like you who is trying to get his board to work. Here is a fix for a problem I had.

When I first used my old link to try to get to my board it came up with an error.

Domain not be found!-101=xxxxxxx.aimoo.com

My board was very active, had lots of links to it from other palces on the web and a high google ranking. When Aimoo upgraded they changed the URL or path to our boards. This messed up all the weblinks, my book marks, the link from google and the URL link from other websites.  Not to mention my users could not find the board becuse the URL had changed.

This fix will cure that problem.  It will cure the broken bookmarks or weblinks that prevent users from finding your board.

I assume you had a problem like me. My board has allways been accessed one of two ways, like this:

xxxxxxx.aimoo.com (Where xxxxxxx is the board name)

or
aimoo.com/forum/freeboard.cfm?id=999999 (Where 999999 would be the forum number)

The xxxxxx.aimoo.com method now that comes up with the following error:

Domain not be found!-101=xxxxxxx.aimoo.com

Therefore your existing web links and shortcuts no longer point to your board.

Here is the fix I have figured out.

1) Acess your board by forum1.aimoo.com/xxxxxxx (Where xxxxxxx is your board name)

2) From the menu at the bottom select:

SightMap

3) From the SightMap select under 'Forum Setting' - 'Forum Info'

(Note if this gives you an error, you will first have to select the board you are going to manage. Then return to SightMap - Forum Setting - Forum Info.)

4) If you are like me, Aimoo has reset the first item, the 'Comunity Domain' from our old short board URL name to _xxxxx_xxxxxx_XXXX_XXXX using the words from the Comunity name.

For example if your board was perviously accessed using BoardName.aimoo.com the Comunity Domain may now be showing _Board_Name  and the URL for accessing it shows something like  forum1.aimoo.com/_Board_Name.

So..... To fix the problem......

Change the Comunity Domain to what ever you had before the aimoo.com on your old board.

(Check your old short cuts to verify what that name was.)

For example if your board was previously accessed by SalyForum.aimo.com

then set the Comunity Domain to SalyForum.

So if your old forum was accessed by BoardName.aimoo.com

and your Comunity Domain name has been reset after the upgrade to something like Board_Name_or_Something

Change it to BoardName.aimoo.com by changing the Comunity Domain to BoardName

My Comunity Domain was reset by Aimoo.com to something like    _xxxxx_yyyy_zzzzzz

When I reset it to xxxxyyyy all the old bookmarks and old weblinks suddenly worked.

5) Instentaniusly your old short cuts, bookmarks and web links should now work. MAGIC.  Your users should be able to again find the board. All old bookmarks and links scattered all over the web should now be correctly pointing to your board.

6) This is the UPDATED part. You must set the Comunity name (the second item), to the same as the Comunity Domain (the first item.) If you do not then the Register for this forum button will not work. The Comunity Domain and Comunity Name must be the same for this to work.

NOTE: This does NOT restore all your users, or their access rights, it just restores your boards domain name pointers.

No problem.  Glad this fix worked for you.

In my case, with thousands of board users, it ment that none of them had to change their bookmarks and I did not have to contact them about using a new URL to access the board.

Aimo has just released an email to board owners telling them they can control the URL or Domain name of their board by using this method.  In my case I changed it back to my old board name so the users could find me again.  Did this about a month ago.

I am glad to see that Aimoo are now officaly supporting this fix.

I have previously noticed that if the Comunity Name and Comunity Domain were not set the same some functions did not work, for example 'Register with this Forum'.

As I have said above, to make all the functions work on my board I had to set the two to the same name.  I don't know if this is still true but just to be safe, once you have changed your Comunity Domain I advaise you also change your Comunity Name to exactly the same thing.      This cured the errors for me.
