NEWBIE here, ok I have set up my message board, acadianroots, now I have it set to password protection, that works cause I tried it, now how come I cannot post? I get a locked message?  I set up different categories, now what do I do to be able to post and reply?

yes I just went in and figured it out, I panic at times like these. grin. now is password protection a good idea? I have 400 members in my genealogy group and I want them to come and post on my message board, I am also going to add a link so that they can come right to the message board, and probably they will have to register am I correct?

Password protecting your community is good if you want to allow only your members to be able to visit your forum. And yes, your new members will need to register with Aimoo if you want them to have membership to your forum.

Or you may also set the users access types under your right-hand control panel > manage community > security > users access type. We offer you different user titles in a forum as admin, mod, normal member and advanced member to set them different privileges including post, edit, add images and etc.

I hope you don't mind all the questions, I am hoping this is going to work for me, now if I wanted to, can I have it as an open forum and be able to mderate the messages before they are posted? Is it a good idea to link it to my website? Is there any way I can get a virus by doing so? I had a photo gallery on my site and got a worm through it, so had to delete it and go another way. My website has lots of hits, so there would probably be lots of folks wanting to post, since my forum is acadian roots genealogy related, also are there any aimoo members into genealogy?

ok another question, now my members are joining, if I password protect my site how does that work do all my members who are already in my forum have to use the password to get in? If  I invite others, do I have to give them the password to get in and register?

Also I would like to know more about the Chat room, I applied for one, is it like a messenger like yahoo or something?
And does the PM work now? if so how do we use it?

1.Yeah, your member need to enter password to get in.
2.If you invite your friends to join your community, you need to give the password and register for your       community. Of course,they can also register at http://www.aimoo.com/Reg.html
3.You may access chat room in the help forum to have a try?
4.You can access someone's profile and click the icon (take a look at the following sreenshot)and send PM to other.
